WEEKLY BITS - 3rd Sunday of Advent - December 12, 2021

1. Ďakujeme všetkým deťom a ich rodičom, ktorí prišli minulú nedeľu na naše spoločné stretnutie so  sv. Mikulášom.  Osobitná vďaka patrí tým, ktorí pomáhali pri organizácii tejto vydarenej akcie, či už to bolo pri príprave haly, balíčkov, vystúpenia detí, jedla alebo pódia. A samozrejme vďaka najmä Pánu Bohu a sv. Mikulášovi!

1. Thank you to all children and their parents who came last Sunday to spend the afternoon with St. Nicholas. Special thank you to those who helped organize this successful event, whether it was preparation of the hall, packages, children’s performances, food or the stage. And, of course, special  thank you to our Lord and St. Nicholas!

THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT

The third Sunday of Advent is traditionally called “Gaudete Sunday” (from Latin, meaning “rejoice”), the title comes from the “Entrance Antiphon” of this Sunday’s Mass and is also taken from Paul’s letter to the Philippians: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice! The Lord is near.” (Phil 4:4+5b) This year Advent ends at sunset in the afternoon of December 24, since that evening, Christmas Eve, begins the Christmas Season.

TRETIA ADVENTNÁ NEDEĽA

Tretia adventná nedeľa sa podľa tradície nazýva nedeľa „Gaudete“, z latinčiny “radujte sa”. Názov nedele pochádza zo “vstupnej antifóny” sv. omše, ktorá cituje list apoštola Pavla Filipanom: „ Ustavične sa radujte v Pánovi! Opakujem: Radujte sa! Pán je blízko.“ (Flp 4:4+5b) Advent trvá do prvých vešpier Narodenia Pána, tento rok končí po západe slnka 24. decembra na Štedrý večer (vigília Sviatku Narodenia Pána) a začína vianočné obdobie.
