BAKER'S BITS - 2.17.19 - East River Catholics

1. Many blessed and happy years to the newly baptized Denisa Makrai, who was baptized in St. John Nepomucene Church last Sunday.

2. We have less than 3 weeks to Lent - Let us be prepared. The Lenten Season is intended to be a “workshop” where the character of the faithful is spiritually uplifted and strengthened; where you are called to rededicate yourself to the principles and ideals of our Holy Catholic Faith; where fasting and prayer culminate in deep conviction of life; where apathy and disinterest turn into vigorous activities of faith and good works. Lent is not for the sake of Lent itself, as fasting is not for the sake of fasting. Rather, these are means by which and for which you are strengthened in your bond with God and His Church!

3. The Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal has begun. It is very important that we participate in this campaign and show our support for the Church. Give whatever you can. Please make sure that you list your name and the name of our parish on the Cardinal’s Appeal envelope so that our parish will be appropriately credited with participation. 1. Veľa požehnaných a šťastných rokov novo-pokrstenej Denise Makrai, ktorá bola pokrstená v Kostole sv. Jána Nepomuckého minulú nedeľu.

2. O necelé tri týždne začína Veľký pôst – buďme pripravení. Pôstne obdobie má byť „pracovným“ obdobím sebarozvoja, kedy sa má charakterveriacich duchovne pozdvihnúť a posilniť; kedy sa máte znova zasvätiť princípom a ideálom našej svätej Katolíckej viery; kedy nás pôst a modlitby privedú k hlbokému presvedčeniu o živote, kde apatia a nezáujem sú nahradené skutkami viery a milosrdenstva. Pôst nie je samoúčelný - je to spôsob, ktorým sa posilňuje naše puto s Bohom a JehoCirkvou.

3. Cardinal’s Stewardship Appeal - Každoročná Kardinálova zbierka sa začala. Je veľmi dôležité, aby sme sa zapojili dotejto kampane a ukázali našu podporu Cirkvi. Darujtečokoľvek môžete. Prosím uveďte vaše meno a meno našej farnosti na Cardinal’s Appeal obálke, aby naša farnosť mohla byť uvedená v zozname zúčastnených farností.
