An organizational meeting for this year's RCIA adult religious education course will be held in the parish rectory, 411 East 66th Street, at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. No preparation is required for this meeting and the course as a whole is offered free of charge. One of the matters dealt with at this first gathering will be the most convenient day of the week and time at which to meet going forward.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is designed for practicing Catholics who may not yet have received all three of the Sacraments of Initiation -- Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist -- for Catholics who have been away from the church for a considerable period and would like to reestablish their practice of the faith as well as for those born and raised in other Christian communities, in other faiths or without any faith who would like to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church and participate in the life of the Sacraments. Adult practicing Catholics interested in enhancing their understanding of the faith are also welcome.
